CHECKLIST: What to learn about the company
·       What is their area of work? What are their current initiatives? What products and services do they offer?
·       Who are the key people in the organization? What is their background?
·       Who are their business associates (such as collaborators, partners, clients, etc.)?
·       What are their business locations (where is the head quarters, where do they have offices / factories / etc.)?
·       What are their stated values and mission? What are the ideas they propagate?
·       Are there any public achievements or controversies associated with the company?
·        How old is the organization? How have they grown in that period? Is there any information on its history?
·         Do they have a strong training system?

Project 2

Project Goal: To learn “Contributor Career Strategies” from an experienced contributor.

STEP 1
 Identify any one “Contributor” you know, who has worked for at least 10 years, and who has contributed a lot during the course of his/her career.

[HINT: Think of who you can interview amongst - People known to your family, Colleagues of your parents, Neighbors, Teachers, People who work in your neighborhood (eg: postman, shopkeepers, fruit / vegetable seller, rickshaw driver, municipality workers, etc.)]

STEP 2
 Interview this person, asking him/her to tell you about – 
l The different roles he/she has performed throughout his/her career life.
l How he/she developed and moved up in his/her career. What were the important milestones
in his/her career.
l For each of the new roles or assignments taken up, what new capabilities did he/she have to build (so as to be able to fulfill the new responsibilities).
l What were some of the most important career choices he/she made? How did he/she think about these choices? What made him/her make these choices?
l What are some of the most important “contributions” he/she feels he/she made in each of his/ her roles in the career?

STEP 3
 Make a presentation on this person –
l Explain how the person answered each of the above questions.
l What are some “Contributor Career Strategies
” that you can learn from this person’s experience?

Project 1

Project Goal: To identify the “contribution possibilities” within a Job Role (eg: Software Programmer in a large software services company).
STEP 1
Identify any one job role that you would be interested in taking up in your future career.
STEP 2
 Do some research to find out more about what responsibilities are involved in this job / role. 

l Interview 2-3 people who are working in that job role (look for seniors / people known to your family / people known to your teachers, etc.)

l Use the internet to search for information on the job role.

Find out –
l What are the key results or outcomes a person in this job role is responsible for?
l [Contribution to Self] What are the opportunities a person working in this job role can get, to systematically develop oneself and grow in capability? What kind of exposure can one get?
l [Contribution to Organization] What contributions can a person performing this job role make to the team, other colleagues, and organization?
l [Contribution to Society] What contributions can a person make to society, through this job role?


STEP 3
 Make a presentation on your selected Job Role – 

l Explain the job role and what one is expected to do in this job role.
l Present the Contribution Possibilities within this job role – Contribution to Self, to Organization, to Society (answers to the above questions).

When one is focused on doing only one’s own part of a job and not focused on the whole job that needs to get accomplished, what happens? How will this affect the work? Discuss to answer.

Q – 4 The Contributor is not a “clock watcher”
“Employees who are willing to stretch themselves when needed, are valued by team members and bosses.” Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Why? Discuss to answer.

Q – 5 The Contributor’s Special: Last Mile Execution
What motivates people to “go the extra mile”?

  • Demonstrating human concern (caring for students' overall development and self-esteem)


We mostly have discussed this in class but now you have to rank and qualify your example through this parameters and see that do they were Contributor Teacher or Non-Contributor Teacher.

Happy Makar Sankranti to All

First of all Happy Makar Sankranti to all.

May This Sankranti brings Kranti in Our Lives

Hereby it is informed to all the people who are associated with this programme of Contributor personality.

This blog is an interactive panel, where in which we are going to put not only our views but something about our academics also, this is an initiative from student and by students and I would like to have more participation from all the others also.

I would like to initiate this blog with some prior information regarding our programme and lectures we have taken till now, so it will serve all of you as revision also, this will be having a discussion forum also and I am expecting some good comments on this, which can serve you good score.

We have started the day with the discussion and understanding of the subject, Swami Vivkeanada Contributor Personality Programme, all of the student came with their doubts regarding the acceptance of the subject and understanding in detail of the same. i.e. the session  began with queries rather than explanation of the actual subject.

Gradually we turn to learn about the subject and their importance, so personality was still a confusing for us so we switched on to take some short personality check from the reference of Dr.Phil’s personality test which was so fruitful and subject was getting interesting also with the test. And then we move on to first exploration of the book.

Next lecture was contributed to the various exploration and example for the discussion on the basic difference of contributor and non – contributor. Various assignments given to the student and this initiative and innovation were discussed.

Further some task will be uploaded here and some of the literature related with our academics for further more explanations will be uploaded.

All of you are requested to join this blog, for their assignments, projects and preparation of the subject.

First of all Happy Makar Sankranti to all.
